Our Animals

At Tumbling Rill Farmstead our animals are our passion. They bring us entertainment and joy as well as meat, eggs, milk, and furs.

Goat

The Alpine is a medium to large sized breed of domestic goat known for its very good milking ability. They have no set colours or markings. They have horns, a straight profile and erect ears. The breed originated in the French Alps.

Nigerian Dwarf

Goat

The Nigerian Dwarf goat is a miniature dairy goat. While originating from West Africa, they have made a special place in our hearts.

Sheep

A fat tailed sheep that is a multi-purpose breed. They’re used for milking, meat, and wool. Originating from Central Asia, they were imported to the US between 1908-1929.

Cotton Patch

Goose

An “upright” goose with a tail in line with its back wings. They are a meat and weeding bird. Originally from Europe, they were imported to North America around the colonial times.

Ducks

A friendly and curious breed of duck. Originally bred in Germany, they were imported to North America in 1984. A well rounded duck used for meat, eggs, exhibition, and pets.

Silver Fox

Rabbits

A rare breed of domestic rabbit originally developed in North Canton, Ohio. They are bred for meat, show, and their unique fur.

Chicken

A British breed of domestic chicken, named after the town of Dorking. They’re a breed known for their eggs and meat. They were imported to the US aroung the 1840’s.

Anatolian Shepherd/ Great Pyrenees Mix

Dog

A large dog breed combining the protective instincts of the Anatolian Shepherd with the calm, gentle nature of the Great Pyrenees, resulting in a highly loyal and vigilant guardian dog with a strong guarding instinct.

Pig

The Kunekune is a small breed of domestic pig from New Zealand. Kunekune are hairy with a rotund build, and may bear wattles hanging from their lower jaws.

Lauren Hays

A loving and nurturing animal enthusiast with a green thumb. A civil engineer by trade, she uses her God given talents to continually improve the farmstead and livelihood of our animals.

Eric Estep

A headstrong and vivacious animal lover with technical knowhow. A civil engineer by trade, he uses his God given talents to complete upgrades and projects on the farmstead.
